1. How do I get to be a model for Varla?
We made the list to the right as an FAQ's for modeling.
2. How can I get my band interviewed or my cd reviewed?
Just send your cd in it's that easy. If you're a DIY band and you don't have the press kit etc, that's okay. If you do, wonderful, but it's not required. We will listen to every cd we get, and if it gets reviewed, we will put your web address in the magazine along with it. If we do like your cd so much that we think we need to know more, we will contact you or your publicist for an interview.
3. How much is a subscription?
$19.95 for four issues starting with the most current issue. $29.95 for overseas,. Sorry the price is so high, but we get killed on the shipping, and instead of not offering it to overseas readers, we need to charge accordingly.
4. How can I advertise in your magazine?
Send an email to advertising@varla.com
and we will get you either an electronic media kit, or snail
mail one to you, depending on which you prefer. We must know what
business you are with to avoid cross-communications between our
ad sales reps.
5. Where can I find Varla?
Varla is now exclusively distributed through RCS, and is currently found on the shelves at Tower Records International, Virgin Megastores, Borders, and soon more chains we will announce with the launch of our spring issue. Varla is also found on various newsstands across the US.

FAQ's regarding modeling:

1. Do I need to have modeling experience or a portfolio?
No. Not at all. If you do, that's great, but it won't keep you from being considered.
2. How do I become a Varla girl?
a. Send in a photo of yourself (please make sure we can see your
face!) via email above or snail mail to the address to the left.
(photos will not be returned so don't send expensive prints.) A
simple snapshot will suffice! No need to get professional pics done,
and PLEASE!! NO NAKEDNESS! We really don't want to see ALL of you
b. You must be 18 or over, if you're not, wait till your birthday!! Please get a simple xerox of your valid photo ID card and scan it and email it with your photos, or mail it snail mail, but we need to have that before we will consider moving forward with you.
c. Include
YOUR LOCATION!
We need to know where you are from!
d. Please tell us briefly about your musical interests. This helps us avoid getting tons of submissions from girls who don't care about music and just want their mug in another magazine. And please be unique, no Swimsuit Illustrated types, and or if your dream is to be in Playboy, chances are you don't need to be in Varla. Apply to those magazines.
e. If we receive emailed submissions without ALL OF THE ABOVE,
they will be filed in the recycling bin.
3. I sent my photos in for submission, and I haven't heard
back! What gives?
We are very busy here and get several model submissions daily.
If you did include all of the above, we will keep your photos
on file with your information. A GENTLE reminder, meaning ONE
follow up email is a good idea, We're not assholes. but emailing
time after time just becomes annoying.
4. Are there any height/weight/size requirements?
No!!! There aren't! The only requirement is mandatory 18 years
old and over, but beyond that, beautiful sexy women come in all
shapes and sizes.
It is helpful if you put your measurements so we can get a better
idea of what you look like, but there is no "cut-off"
weight or height requirement.
5. I'm an A cup...will you still consider me?
OF COURSE! See above...
6. If I'm chosen as a Varla Model, will Varla photograph me,
or do I work with my own photographer?
This depends on where you are located. Varla is based out of Los
Angeles, and we have photographers in the Seattle area, as well
as NYC and of course LA. So if you live outside of these areas,
then we will accept photo submissions from other photographers
UPON APPROVAL.
To sum it up, if you feel sexy, you have style, a love of music
and feel good about yourself, send in a photo for fun. Remember
that sending in photos gives us permission to post them on our
site if we see fit. Thanks and happy picture taking!
